HOW TO SUPPORT A SURVIVOR OF SGBV AND SAFELY REFER THEM?

Aim and Objective:
Further to its commitment to prevent and respond to SGBV in humanitarian settings, the IFRC intends to support volunteers and staff in National Societies who are responding to the current Covid-19 emergency response, to respond to SGBV disclosures and know how to refer them safely, in line with the Do No Harm principle.

Content:
The briefing is a 20 minutes recorded powerpoint presentation on SGBV safe referrals. It builds on global best practices as well as tools developed by the IFRC specifically on Protection, Gender, and Inclusion, and SGBV. The course highlights the key practical resources available in multiple languages that can be used by staff and volunteers during the course of their work to safely handle SGBV disclosure.
The briefing covers the following key areas:
o What is SGBV and why are we discussing it in the context of the Covid-19 response?
o How to handle disclosure in situations where there is SGBV services and in situations where there is no SGBV services
o Basic Psychological First Aid tips when dealing with disclosure from SGBV survivors
o Key resources to consult on SGBV
