Project Description

During Y-Adapt, an interactive, games-based curriculum, youth have been working on educating and reducing the risk of flooding, in the area of the National School of Tabarre. This way people in the area will be more aware about the risks of flooding. By this awareness people will also know better what to do against this risk.

During their project, the youth participants met with a team of volunteers. This team of volunteers had established contact with the authorities of the municipality, in order to make this risk aware and reduce the risk of flooding.

In the second step the youth participants went and educated the schoolchildren, as well as the area and the neighboring communities in order to launch a campaign. This campaign was raising awareness about the risk of flooding in the area. The hope is that by raising awareness that the community will be aware how big the impact of flooding can be and that they have ideas or initiatives themselves.

Lastly, after the people are aware of the risks, the participants and the people have helped to improve the area and reduce the risk of flooding happening. For example, they have achieved this by managing their waste more efficiently. Now in the end, it’s up to the volunteers that must keep the community aware of the risks, in order to continue to carry out its actions.
