In early November, the American Red Cross Team & Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management hosted approximately 175 residents at a West Philadelphia High School shelter.
The large shelter was for residents impacted by a fire in the basement of a 300-unit residential building in Center City. While there was no smoke or fire damage to the individual apartment units, residents were required to evacuate.
Because most of the residents were elderly and spoke only Mandarin, Disaster Health Services and translation volunteers played a critical role.
Thanks for your support to the Philadelphia Fire Department, Philadelphia Police Department, SEPTA, The Salvation Army Philadelphia, Mütter Museum, School District of Philadelphia & American Red Cross New Jersey Region!!
