Project Description

This initiative aims to reduce household waste in Bagerhat by converting kitchen waste into organic compost for rooftop gardening. The project engages local families, youth volunteers, and community members to promote environmentally friendly waste management practices and reduce pollution at local dumping points.

The activities include collecting segregated kitchen waste, producing compost using low-cost and climate-friendly methods, distributing clay pots and saplings, and guiding households to start rooftop gardens. A Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was conducted to raise awareness about proper waste disposal and the benefits of composting.

The project also involved placing banners and stickers near waste disposal sites to discourage people from dumping trash in public areas. As a final step, the area around Shaheed Jabbar Minar and Dhopa Kol was cleaned, leveled with soil, fenced with bamboo, and planted with trees to enhance local environmental resilience.

This initiative empowers youth, protects the environment, and supports greener urban spaces for the Bagerhat community.
