Project Description

(English) During Y-Adapt, an interactive games-based curriculum, youth have been working on creating a school field, with trees. The trees create shade and regulate the temperature of the school field. The goal of this project is to create a cool place for students, during heatwaves and high temperatures.

The first step of the project from the youth participants was collecting information. The youth participants did a soil survey, identifying if the field would be healthy enough to grow trees on. Also to figure out what kinds of trees can grow well on the soil.

After the soil survey the youth participants asked their teachers and municipal authorities for help. Together they managed to obtain the trees and other tools that were going to be used.

Lastly, the youth participants and the teachers continued carried out the work plan. Creating an area where students can cool off and be in the shade, when heatwaves or warm temperatures occur.
