(English) During Y-Adapt, an interactive games-based curriculum, youth have been working on different activities and assimilations to protect the public market in the area from flooding. The market in Delmas has between 17 and 19 accommodations, plus more than a hundred merchant working here. Protecting this area is very important for the area.
Firstly, the youth participants make an action plan, to see what the best steps were for the project. After that the youth participants immediately met with the local authorities, in order to learn the plan as well as the situation of the target area. Lastly, of their first phase, the youth participants met the inhabitants of neighboring areas.
After this, the youth participants made the merchants aware of the risk of flooding. They mobilized the necessary resources in order to launch an activity of no hoarding, with the support of the merchants and the inhabitants of the area, among other activities of prevention.
Lastly later in the project, the youth participants have carried out different activities and assimilation during several days. The inhabitants, the merchants appreciated the initiative taken by the young people and supported it in order to allow them to carry it out. The merchants promised to help the youth participants again with such an activity, to help prevent any risk of flooding.
