At the beginning of March, heavy rains affected the provinces of Manabí and Guayas. Since the emergency arose, teams of the Ecuadorian Red Cross were mobilized to perform a damage assessment and analysis of the needs of the population.
With the gathering of information, 75 affected families were identified in Manabí and 398 in Guayas. The families are located in eight cantons (four in Guayas and four in Manabí).
At the moment, 30 volunteers work in Guayas and 12 in Manabí, while from the Red Cross Headquarters it provides support to 15 technicians, in Quito. The Redrojistas perform work as support during the evacuations, basic first aid, psychosocial support and census lifting.
Due to the affectation, the Ecuadorian Red Cross sent humanitarian aid for the affected families. In Manabí and Guayas, 473 Hygiene Kits and 473 Kits of Toilet were delivered. For Manabí, 75 Safe Water Kits containing ceramic filters and drums were also sent. Additionally, bottles of chlorine were sent for distribution in the province of Guayas.
