Reporting and research for COVID-19 to support globall

The unprecedented impact of COVID19 has significantly affected the functioning of the organizational structures of National Societies across the world, reducing their capacity to respond to the effects of this emergency. National Societies in the region are developing according to their country contexts, Programmes and services have been designed according to the needs of the population and according to cooperation agreements when establishing their auxiliary role.

The volunteering position is done remotely in the Americas and reports directly to the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID-19 and/or to the Senior executive Liaison Officer, COVID 19. The volunteer will guarantee constant research and reporting on issues related to COVID-19, how different communities are being impacted by COVID-19, how other organizationare approaching their response to COVID-19, among other topics of interest for research, analysis and reporting for the Cell of Support of SRSG.

    Under the leadership of the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID-19 and the Senior executive Liaison Officer, COVID 19 (SLO), provide support monitoring global COVID-19 updates internally in IFRC and externally. The Volunteer for Reporting and Research will be expected to analyze different tendencies, develop comprehensive reports to the SRSG, understand key affectation of different communities such as migrants, elderly people, frontline workers, and essential personnel, among others

    Responsibilities Keys

    1· Support as necessary day-to-day research, drafting and editing for the preparation of materials for the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID19 in the internal and external bilateral and multilateral meetings.

    2· Contribute to ensure with the SLO the relevance, accuracy, and quality of documentations for the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID19, for strategic outgoing correspondence.

    3· Support on the monitoring and research of information to help the SLO to ensure that the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID19 is informed in a timely manner of new developments, trends and innovations in major humanitarian operations and all substantive areas of concern to the organization and the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as a whole related to COVID-19.

    4· Support to portray research and reports in data visualization mechanisms as infographics, presentations, social media and others.

    5· Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the SRSG and the Senior executive Liaison Officer, COVID 19.

    · Basic knowledge of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

    · Experience as a volunteer with the Red Cross or other similar organization preferred

    · Ability to work in a multicultural environment

    · Experience in research and/or reporting

    Time of volunteer service and financial compensation

    The volunteer is required to start on December 28, 2020 for a minimum of 4 months.

    The volunteer will not receive any financial compensation and their volunteer service is framed by the International Federation of the Red Cross Volunteer Policy.

    Volunteering will take place remotely from any part of the Americas. Volunteers can do this virtually or in different modalities to be discussed with the Federation if needed.

    Travel costs, visas, lodging, medical and accident insurance, as well as expenses within the country, are the responsibility of the volunteer.

    Each volunteer must know, accept and act according to the Federation’s Code of Conduct, as well as other current regulations that will be made known to him/her at the time of beginning the volunteering.
