Business Development for COVID-19 to support globally

The unprecedented impact of COVID19 has significantly affected the functioning of the organizational structures of National Societies across the world, reducing their capacity to respond to the effects of this emergency. National Societies in the region are developing according to their country contexts, Programmes and services have been designed according to the needs of the population and according to cooperation agreements when establishing their auxiliary role.

The volunteering position is done remotely in the Americas and reports directly to the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID-19 and/or to the Global Senior Officer for Business Development COVID-19.

The volunteer will support the coordination from local to global level in a way that supports the effective integration of the strategic priorities and enablers of the Secretariat for COVID-19 global response, and to actively support to seek the generation of sustainability within new business and income development opportunities for National Societies in terms of the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic as well as timely analysis to ensure that Red Cross-National Societies consistently deliver –through their volunteers and staff- relevant country-wide services to vulnerable people, sustained for as long as needed.

    Under the leadership of the Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG) for COVID-19 and the Global Senior Officer for Business Development COVID-19, provide support monitoring and implementation of the IFRC network activities, in regards to the maintenance and development of the local to global Capacity business of National Societies related to the COVID-19 response. The Volunteer for Business Development COVID-19 will support to identify sustainable ways to support the NSs and analyze Business Continuity internally at the IFRC procedures.

     

     

    Responsibilities Keys

    1. Support to set the vision and design, plan, implement and monitor the strategic development of the National Societies’ business development plans and support the use of response resources within the Red Cross Red Crescent Network in regards to COVID-19 response.

    2. Help the Global Senior Officer for Business Development COVID-19 on the dissemination of the Business Development COVID-19 response principles, rules, policies, standards, procedures and tools to Secretariat and NS governance and management and monitor compliance.

    3. Support in the analysis of the Secretariat’s Business Continuity strategies and procedures.

    4. Promote the sustainability of the National Societies by fostering cooperation and partnerships, diversifying its sources of funding, understanding of the auxiliary role of the NSs, their expansion in the health field and their importance in donor relations.

    5. Perform any other work-related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the SRSG and the Global Senior Officer for Business Development COVID-19.

    · Experience as a volunteer with the Red Cross or other similar organization

    · Preferably with experience in sustainability mechanisms, international cooperation dynamics, among others.

    Time of volunteer service and financial compensation

    The volunteer is required to start on December 28, 2019 for a minimum of 9 months.

    The volunteer will not receive any financial compensation and their volunteer service is framed by the International Federation of the Red Cross Volunteer Policy.

    Volunteering will take place remotely from any part of the Americas. Volunteers can do this virtually or in different modalities to be discussed with the Federation if needed.

    Travel costs, visas, lodging, medical and accident insurance, as well as expenses within the country, are the responsibility of the volunteer.

    Each volunteer must know, accept and act according to the Federation’s Code of Conduct, as well as other current regulations that will be made known to him/her at the time of beginning the volunteering.
