During Y-Adapt, an interactive games-based curriculum, youth have been working on a seasonal adapting field. The goal of this artificial field is that during times of hazards and harsh weather conditions farmers have an available field to their disposal. That way a farmer can still plant and produce food and crops, and have a reliable income.
During their project, the youth participants went to the farmers and interviewed them. The participants asked the farmers what common problems they encounter in the fields, due to weather conditions and other hazards.
The next step was speaking to the city Agriculture Extension Agency and identifying the materials needed to create a seasonal adapting field and classify which kinds of crops could be planted on these fields.
Lastly, the youth participants discussed their insights with the farmers, on what could possibly happen in the near future and what kind of benefits could be gained from seasonal adapting fields.
