Project Description

The school education and awareness program program is a part of the Resilient Island initiative of the educational component . The project was composed of two primary school within the parish of St. Andrews namely Telescope primary school and St. Andrew’s Anglican primary school.

Telescope primary school activity was rolled out in two phases; 1. On Thursday 29th April 2021, a field trip was done, whereby the students visited the bay at Telescope and held a cleanup drive along the coast, as well teaching sessions was held focusing on the importance of mangroves, community-based approach, preservation, and conservation of the ecosystem. 2. Component was held on Thursday 6th May, 2021, the students planted a few fruit trees on the school grounds to tie in World Earth Day as part of the activities also. A competition was held, in the form of a quiz to find out what was learned and prize tokens giving to the students. A certificate was given to each participant as well for participating in the educational program.

St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School activity was held on Friday 30th April,2021. A special assembly was held at the school in the form of a carnival-like parade, show casing the awareness about climate change and adaptation, resilience, ecosystem’s . Several themes was chosen by the students to write poems, create charts as well as slogan to heighten the awareness about climate change. The students received certificates as well as tokens for participating in the educational program.
