During Y-Adapt, an interactive games-based curriculum, youth have been working on cleaning drains. If drains are clogged, the water will be stagnant. And when heavy rains occurs, this will cause floods to the area. Thus, it greatly affects the community in general.
Firstly, It’s very evident that the water drainage in the area is clogged. The residents throw their home waste and garbage in the water, what causes the clogged drainage and stagnant water.
After that, the youth, particularly the Red Cross Youth, under the Youth Advocacy on the Preservation of the Environment (YAPE), made a proposal addressed to the Barangay captain. This proposal tackled the activities in cleaning the drainage/ in addressing the problem.
Lastly, the youth participants also arranged dialogues/partnerships with the other stakeholders and organization in the city, to assist the youth in the implementation of the activity, to ensure it was sustainable.
