During Y-Adapt, an interactive games-based curriculum, youth have been working on the preparedness of the National high school, against earthquakes.
Batasan Hills National High School is one of the beneficiaries of the Philippine Red Cross’s Y-Adapt. Prior to conduct of Y-Adapt, PRC had assisted the school in conducting the VCA to identify the hazards and Strength of the school.
Based on the results of the VCA, supported by the historical and scientific findings, the school is at risk during earthquakes, due to its proximity to the west valley fault.
After the conduct of Y-Adapt, students, school personnel and parents agreed to implement mitigation and preparedness measures such as awareness raising, drills and simulation activity. The school has identified an evacuation centres but students still pass through dark hallways and alleys in the school. Thus, the students with the support of their advisers come up with a proposal using the adaptation plan template to install luminous arrows that will serve as guide to students to navigate the dark pathways. Especially since that the school is operates even at night time
