.St. Kitts and Nevis national society is predominantly an English speaking one, however in our country we have persons from the Dominican Republic. Our NS saw this group, one in which English is not their first language as being one of our vulnerable groups. We saw it necessary to translate information and to educate them on covid19. This included going to their communities and sharing posters/fliers to them to ensure everyone in the country is protected and engages in precautionary measures against civil 19.
¡Excelente información!, bueno la Cruz Roja Panameña movilizó vehículos en todo el territorio Nacional con altoparlantes, por medio del cual transmitió mensajes a la comunidad enfocado en la importancia de que las familias se quedaran en casa a compartir y disfrutaran de una sana convivencia. Por otra parte, se mantuvo informando en las calles el correcto lavado de manos y la importancia de mantener la distancia entre las personas.
Para añadir realizó videos cortos del uso de guantes y mascarilla, ¿ Que es el Covid y como se transmite?, dichos videos se publicaron en las redes sociales, con el fin de enseñar a la comunidad el tema de la prevención.
Definitely the topic of translation is important. For this reason, we are promoting Digital volunteers to support different Ns in this important matter, translating documents, text and training materials in different languages. It is important to reach communities in their local language so the message is well understood.
