{"id":6528,"date":"2020-06-16T11:50:56","date_gmt":"2020-06-16T17:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pxdev3.com\/IFRC2022\/?post_type=ajde_events&#038;p=6528"},"modified":"2020-06-16T11:50:56","modified_gmt":"2020-06-16T17:50:56","slug":"a-global-domestic-operation","status":"publish","type":"ajde_events","link":"https:\/\/volunteeringredcross.org\/en\/events\/a-global-domestic-operation\/","title":{"rendered":"A global domestic operation."},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Overview<\/h3>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The COVID pandemic has brought both opportunities and risks when it comes to progress in localisation, in the sense of an international humanitarian system that is \u201cas local as possible, as international as necessary.\u201d\u00a0Official movement and travel restrictions designed to control the spread of the virus have a potential impact on all humanitarian actors, but may have an even greater impact on the common ways of working of international responders in light of the difficulties of international travel.\u00a0 Self-imposed restrictions may be an even greater hurdle in this respect for international organisations seeking to reduce the exposure of their staff.<\/p>\n<p>In May, the Grand Bargain\u2019s Localisation Workstream issued\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ifrc.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=9502e028986a3ef484fd53385&amp;id=65107d4d3e&amp;e=2461affc3c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">6 \u201cguidance notes\u201d<\/a>\u00a0synthesizing its top conclusions and recommendations based on research, country missions and a regional conferences held in 2018-19.\u00a0 Drawing in part on this experience, the IASC also\u00a0recently issued its own \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/ifrc.us12.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=9502e028986a3ef484fd53385&amp;id=7fe20127f8&amp;e=2461affc3c\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\">Interim guidance note on localisation and the COVID-19 response<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>How can these lessons and recommendations be effectively applied in international response efforts?\u00a0 What lessons can we learn from past operations?\u00a0 What needs to be done differently?\u00a0 How do we walk the talk?
